The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu, has said that the party is coasting home to victory because PDP has confidence in the achievements of the President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, who read a
speech on behalf of Mu’azu in Abuja yesterday, said that the
achievements of Jonathan had given him the cutting edge over and above
the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate,
Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
According to Muazu, “I can therefore most confidently assure you that
with the support of Nigerians, we are headed for an overwhelming victory
at the presidential and National Assembly elections come Saturday, the
28th of March 2015.
“Our support base in all the states and the six geo-political zones are
formidable. We have worked hard and we will win fair and square.
“Not only that, we will give the opposition a crushing defeat in our original states of Sokoto, Kano, Nasarawa, Edo, Rivers, Imo and Kwara; we are also headed for a sweeping victory in the South-west and the northern states of the federation including states regarded as the strongholds of the opposition.

“In the South-west, apart from the fact that we are in control of Ekiti
and Ondo States, we are set to win in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and Osun States
where we have worked hard to secure the support of the people.”
Mu’azu further said that in the north where PDP controls the governments of 12 out of the 19 states, the party is happy to report that it enjoys the full goodwill and support of the people.
“The north remains a stronghold of the PDP with solid political structures oiled over the years in all the electoral wards and local governments in the region.

“The north remains a stronghold of the PDP with solid political structures oiled over the years in all the electoral wards and local governments in the region.
“Our capacity for a sweeping victory is buoyed by the various tangible
development projects that have hugely affected the lives of ordinary
Nigerians in the region, a factor that has put us in good stead to win
back our original states as well as others considered to be fortresses
of the opposition,” he added.
Muazu said in keeping with the party’s avowed commitment to a peaceful
electoral process, the PDP under his leadership has run an “orderly
campaign based only on issues, devoid of unnecessary political
mudslinging and acts of desperation, especially seeing the fact that a
majority of the Nigerian voting population is solidly behind PDP”.
Accordingly, he said: “Our campaigns and rallies have been greeted by
the turnout of millions of Nigerians, men and women of good faith,
citizens who cherish democracy and the indivisibility of our great
nation, the cardinal values of the PDP as the only true democratic party
committed to the national interest.
“We ran a very vigourous campaign based on sincerity and truth. We
could not have done otherwise. We placed before Nigerians an array of
credible candidates and records of verifiable achievements of our
elected and appointed officers especially our standard-bearer, President
Goodluck Jonathan.”
He listed the various achievements of Jonathan to include improvements
in power, education, health, roads and rail transport as well as reforms
in the electoral system
